S Y R A N D H R I (Maalini)

This picture shows the queen of Paandavas,Droupadi or Krishna in the guise of a servant in the palace of Viraata during her incognito.

She is seen leaving the palace for the abode of the queen's brother Keechaka who eyed on her and threateningly forced his sister to send her to him on some pretext. The queen dreaded his wrath and sent her to his place on the errand of fetching some fine wine for her. Droupadi was forced there by Keechaka for sensual pleasures but had a narrow escape. Later, she inveigled him to wait for her in a lonely and dark dance hall in a pitch dark night where her husband Bheema secretly awaited Keechaka. Bheema torturously killed him for her pleasure. People believed that Maalini's husbands, the Gandharvas killed Keechaka.as punishment for his misbehaviour with her.
